Bones, Bed, Black & White

Thinking today about stark contrast, black and white.  I love how these found bones have bleached out white, white ~ but lots of black too.  Interesting how something so severe also encompasses the polar opposite, coming full circle and creating the whole.  Having begun there I collected other black and white images that moved me.

Drawing of whale bone 3-31-13, SAIC catalogue page, Mac Akin 0000, 2012, domino found Ratho Mill, West Indies 2013, broken necklace (unseen), SAIC catalogue blackboard, bed, Domino Magazine Fall/Winter 2012

That bed, a cloud of white, white mantle and linen headboard against the midnight wall, it comes together as rich, lush and inviting.  Once more texture tells as much of the story as the line.

Listening to OF MONSTERS AND MEN ~ Your Bones, of course...

Because a mood is made of the intangible ... ideas, memories, shapes, images handmade and borrowed and found objects

Blue Mood, mellow mood, in a mood....

... Because a mood is set by the elements, by the atmosphere, by the colour, by a theme, a texture, a song, a scent, oh yes most definitely a scent and by the sounds that surround it.  The ability to evoke a mood is comparable to the ability to cook a great meal, sing in tune or dance provocatively.  Blue mood, mellow mood, in a mood....
